 About            

      Music education improves a student’s self-discipline, coordination, self-esteem, thinking skills, listening skills,     creative abilities, and personal expression. Improving the voice creates the confidence to express fully and artfully.

Karen consistently develops and creates top award winning vocal students who successfully earn top scholarship awards, high placing rankings in competitions and festivals, and who consistently are chosen for principal and supporting roles in music theatre productions.                                     She will take your voice and singing to the next level in all areas.

                    Teach In Harmony
Karen holds BA and MS Degrees in Music Education from Portland State University, and taught Voice at Pacific University for 10 years, as well as general and choral music to grades K-12 in the Tigard and Hillsboro school districts for the prior ten years. Karen completed her Certification in YogaVoice® Teacher Training in August 2020, and then earned Contemporary Commercial Music Certification from Shenandoh University Vocal Pedagogy Institute in July 2022. She is a long time member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and has served many positions on the Cascade Chapter Board, including two terms as Chapter President.  Karen’s vocal career focused on and specialized in Contemporary Commercial Music, Musical Theatre, and Nightclub/Cabaret singing. She is a requested vocal coach and clinician for music theatre companies, high school drama and choral departments, gives frequent master classes and performance workshops, and enjoys adjudicating for vocal solo competitions and festivals, such as OMEA Solo/Ensemble Festival, NATS Classical and Music Theatre Student Auditions, Mu Phi Epsilon Scholarship Awards Competition, Thespian Regional Acting Competition, and OMTA Voice Syllabus.
